This proposed vertical extension relocates Loughborough’s undergrad architecture studios onto the existing Sir Frank Gibb Building while conserving its superstructure. Developed through group discussion, the design incorporates parametric façade elements and centres on a new atrium that connects students and staff. The extension aimed to resolve the contrast between the original square building and its curved renovation, using equilateral geometries to strengthen fabrication efficiency, structural integrity, and the overarching theme of ‘links’.
